Time warp 10 years forward I still play Bioforge from time to time, now with 2xhq/3xhq scalers on a big ass screen :) Time goes by so fast.. maybe the Mondites didint have such a bad idea after all.. except the memory erase phase :P (joke haha) |

IRQ (2010-05-06 21:47) |

I lost my old password. Anyway you don't need to experiment which IRQ works, it is defined in "install.opt" file in the Bioforge root directory. Edit with notepad / any editor and set a proper IRQ. |

IRQ problems (2010-04-29 17:29) |

As mentioned before, an incorrect IRQ setting for the sound causes the main character not to wake up, basically rendering you unable to play. You'll instantly know you have set the wrong IRQ if there is no (continued) sound of the ship's engines during the intro video. (I heard the engine for just a second, then it cut off)
I read someone had to set the IRQ to 5, but for me it worked only if I set the IRQ to 7. This means you have to experiment which IRQ setting works for you. |

The CTRL + ALT issue (2008-03-04 23:51) |

|
I notice where people have said they couldn't use the CTRL and ALT keys. I had the same issue at first until I realized two things.
1. You have to first hit the 'C' key to go into combat mode which then makes ALT and CTRL active.
2. You have to use the numpad, the commands do not work with the numbers up top of the keyboard. |

This really is a strange error, i've never experienced such. I will do some research around it and will post the results/workarounds if there are some.
Bioforge forver! :) |

Version 0.72 CTRL + ALT (2008-02-07 02:06) |
Morphix
|
|
|
I'm running an Intel Core 2 Due E6600 2.4 Ghz, 2 GB RAM DD2 as well.
I initially had the issue where the main character wouldn't wake up, but this was due to an IRQ misconfig.
The problem now is the one some of the above are having, the ALT and CTRL keys don't respond, thus making combat impossible. I've tried remapping the mod keys to alternate buttons, but this has no effect. Any ideas? |

The game runs with no problems.
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHZ
2 GB RAM DDR2 Dual
cca. 70 000 cycles
You need to set the IRQ to the number, which is set in the Bioforge setup file - install.opt (edit with notepad).
I've finished the game twice already - 100% supported. |

Set IRQ to 5 (2007-07-24 17:56) |

In contrast to my previous comment the game runs fine in DOSBox 0.70, but you might have to change the DOSBox Sound Blaster emulation to IRQ 5 (and change the game settings accordingly) in order to get past the first scene. |

Keyboard problems (2007-07-20 09:01) |

Seems to run fast enough on an Athlon XP 3400, but I'll have to agree with the other comment that in DOSBox 0.70, the keyboard does not work at all, which makes it impossible to play the game. |

Nearly Playable (2005-07-01 18:17) |

On my Athlon64-3,2 -with scalers, various eycandy etc. switched off it's slow but still playable. Like playing on a 486/66 I presume (while asking for a Pentium/90.
But no joypad-support, use additional progs for that. I hope the programmers of dosbox will integrate enhanced key- and joystick-support in the next versions ;-) |

Game runs, but bomb's ticker too fast (2005-04-28 01:46) |

DosBox latest, CPU Athlon 1600+, game run perfect (with mouse and sounds, full-screen or windowed)
One problem: bomb ticker (from missile on the beach) after ~10 seconds. I can't place bomb near door in the tunnel, one explode very quickly :(
PS. BioForge rulez :) |

I have Bioforge running pretty well on Dosbox 0.61 with my Athlon xp 2000+ 512ram 9600pro radeon machine. It's a bit slow at times but is definitely playable!!(Good speed overall)sound is also very good, just don't overclock your cpu or the sound stutters. I also have the resolution set at 800x600 and it looks pretty good and still runs fine.Apart from that,I had almost no problems finishing the game!! |

Runs Pretty Good (2004-02-27 22:50) |

DosBox 0.61
P4 1.5ghz / 384MB Ram
I have almost no problems running Bioforge, I even have sound working. The Combat difficulty select screen bogs down a bit. When your character is by himself on the screen, the game runs about full speed. If I set the frame skip to 1, the game runs perfectly. However, I'm not that far into the game so I don't know if it will crash later on. |

Well... (2004-01-09 20:36) |

While loading each stage, it has a very long pause at "SCRIPT" before continuing to the intro animation.
While I could not get into the game proper, I at least got to wax nostalgic at the long-ish intro animation and music. Once the game menu appeared with the mouse-controlled hand, things slowed WAY down. After I selected the combat mode, nothing.
AMD Athlon 2100+ (1.73GHz)

ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
(Yeah, I know... I'll upgrade my CPU soon) |
