If you can't get midi sound to work, try downloading an alternative midi driver set here:

Then replace them in your main game directory. Load up "setup.exe" and configure midi. You can try Microsoft's SOUND SYSTEM as well as others and it might work. When you click on "TEST MUSIC" under the "SELECT MIDI MUSIC CARD" it will no longer produce an error. The sound may or may not be played in the setup program, but it should work in the game.

The midi and sound configuration is a little bit difficult, maybe this helps. Config MIDI first.
