There is not a problem with the game itself or DOSBox emulation.

To solve the slowdown when level starts, enter SETUP (execute SETUP.EXE) and change "Input device" from "Gravis Gamepad & Keyboard" to "Keyboard only". For some reason, the configuration file CC.CFG (demo) or SETUP.CFG (full game) has it default to that input device. Also, you can do the same thing by editing manually the file and change byte at offset 31 (starting by 0) from 2 value (Gravis Gamepad & Keyboard) to 0 value (Keyboard only).

To make saving work, you need to create an empty SAV directory in the game directory. The game silently ignores the missing directory unfortunately.

I got the game to run great in v.74, but the game wont save. I'll save the game, then go into the load menu and my savegame isn't there. Any suggestions?

Setting the detail level to "Low" in the program setup should stop the major slowdown. It may still lag slightly when loading each level, but is fine during actual gameplay.

Menus are fine, but once you enter a level, things slow down to a crawl. Haven't found a way to fix it.
