Laggy on a fast PC (2008-06-23 23:22) |

I'm running a 3.0 duo core processor with 3GB of RAM. Set everything on highest, and LOTS of lag. You're better off using MS-DOS, which oddly enough works fine with game. Good game though. |

very good - once correct options set (2008-04-07 22:31) |

Carma runs very well here on a 2.4GHz Core2Duo Macbook Pro (2GB RAM), but only when the right options are set in DOSBox! Otherwise it was pretty much unplayable.
Using dapplegrey I set:
Max offered CPU cycles: 100000
CPU core: Dynamic (most important)
CPU Cycling: Max
Priority: Highest
Cycles Up: 5000
63 megs of RAM
this is with decent graphics options set in carma,
but no CD audio
And BAM! I'm off on my crazy way... just like back in middle school. |

I have an Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.4 GHz. Default dosbox settings (auto, auto). I only experienced a little lag within the SCi intro and some of the cutscenes. The game runs perfectly here. |

Playable on 0.72 (2007-10-25 02:11) |

I did it all, added DOS32A, cranked up the cycles to 50k on an dynamic core and still found a playable game. I got about 5-10 frames a second on a P4, 2.8 GHz. Still, within these restrictions it is playable, but not much more. The menu and other game sequences play on full speed, but where it matters, the game itself, it lacks a bit. IMHO, other solutions do better, although nothing beats the ease of setup and use of DOSBOX. |

I tested Carmageddon on a Pentium 4 3.2GHz and it works perfectly. The only problem is that the ingame gameplay sometimes stutters. This is probably the dynamic loading of the map. All the sound worked, even the CD-sound. I used DOS32a and dynamic core on a full installation. Works even better with the latest CVS build, using the cycles set to auto. No segfaults, currently running race 7. |

From a minimal install I think it was done under 0.63 (didn't work so well), seems to work reasonably under 0.65, although no music. It's almost playably fast, dymanic core, 30000 cycles, 0 frameskip, XP3000, with some of the detail turned down. The video clips, and menus are fine. Shame dosbox segfaulted starting the third race... |

Graphical glitches (2004-10-28 11:23) |

This game seems to run fine, although it's slow and has black vertical lines throughout the screen, making it hard to see. The speed is fine until you actually get into a race, then it's slow because of the 3D nature of the game. Both the video and sound skips. I'm using athlon xp 2600+, dynamic, 23000 cycles, ddraw for this test. Upping frameskip all the way to 10 didn't help matters any, by the way. |
