GunShip 2000 -- on macOS M1 (2023-11-05 23:58) |

Here's what I've done to get the game to work on macOS 13.5.2 with an M1 Max.
First, you need DosBoxSVN, not the regular DosBox. The problem with regular DosBox is that it crashed when I tried to make it full screen.
You should be able to download it here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/kbrf5elbcu66kst/Dosbox-Snapshot.dmg
This is where I learned about it:
https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=72465
Secondly, you'll need to edit your configuration file. Start DosBoxSVN first, and then edit it here:
~/Library/Preferences/DOSBox SVN Preferences
I changed these preferences:
core = dynamic # default is auto
cycles = 12000 # default is auto
I messed around with this a lot -- 6000, 9000, 10000, 15000, and more -- and only 12000 would load smoothly.
For convenience, I also added this at the end of the file, in the [autoexec] section:
mount c ~/DosBox
c:
dir /w
I also changed the capture location:
captures = ~/DosBox/capture |

Hi Guys, to make long story short after testing it on original hardware (PII266Mhz) it turns out to be a buggered version! Just search internet and download the version that comes with original installer. Once you install it freshly it works perfectly. The version that comes with the some pilots already in the roster it basically corrupted, but unfortunately its the most popular one (almost on every website). Like I said just try to find different version. |

After many hours found a solution: open task manager and set the dosbox process affinity to only one core/cpu. Enjoy! |

Setting core to dynamic and cycles to 6000 and
sblaster to sb1 works fine. You need to run
MPS's "setup" thru dosbox to set sound, joystick and other options. Everything working A-OK. |

When I fly in the sky with any helicopter it seems as if the frame rate is kind of choppy.
Also, it seems that the frame rate slows down when
I go to the replay screen.
Any suggestions? |

For me it is the fact that the cycles have to be set to 10,000 or less to get past the briefing glitch.
At 10,000 or less the glitch is fixed for both dynamic or normal core.
At higher speeds (e.g. 16,000 cycles) , the glitch occurs with both dynamic and normal core.
I have now played several missions under DOSBox 0.73 can report the the entire game plays perfectly at 10,000 cycles and it is easily fast enough too.
As always, YMMV!

I can agree with steel666. But i think the main thing to avoid the bug is setting the core to dynamic, since i run gs2000 with 6000 cycles and dynamic core and it also works fine.
So...
Problem, Solved!
Yeehaaaw. Good hunting pilots. |

After hours of experimenting and testing the briefing screen seems to work flawlessly with cpu core set to dynamic and with cycles set to 12000. |

Mission briefing still sometimes (usually) causes a lockup and graphics garbage. It appears to fail randomly and may be related to the number of cycles set. |

Does any one know why when you start to fly that you loose your weapons. It goes to 0 everything. They are fine when starting and gaining altitude but when you push down on cystolic and toggle through weapons, they are lost. |
