with Dosbox ver .72 (windows), game runs near perfect. mouse is a bit slow. Cd is accessed every few minutes for area loading, but I think it was originally like that. |

Mission Critical is a demanding game: the recommended specs were a 486 DX4 100 MHz, not exactly what DOSBox is capable of emulating. With 0.63 though, runs decently on a P4/2.7 at 22000 cycles. Some scenes (the room with the hull puncture, the forest with the AIs, the RTS part) won't run properly if you don't push the cycles to 70000 at least. If you're using a CVS with the timesync patch, you can set the core to dynamic and leave the cycles to 70000 for a near perfect gameplay. Note that the SB16 emulation seems to be buggy: it will totally saturate the audio buffer with annoying clicks from time to time. The best choice here is the SB2, good quality and not a single drop. |

Amd 2500, DOSBox 63, set set to 14000, when put higher, the game actually got slower with distorted sound. |
