Perfect game with 0.65 (2006-10-05 22:51) |

Environment:
8000 cycles dynamic, 0 frameskip
Sound:
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 T6
(SB16, Address 220, IRQ 5, DMA 1, HDMA 5)
Sample rates 44100, Block size 512, Prebuffer 100, Mixer on.
Game set only to SoundBlaster in setup.
As a special note (just in case there's someone out there that hasn't realized it), if you're running "The Ultimate Might and Magic Archive", DO NOT run the launcher.bat set up provided through DOSbox. Use \mm3\mm3.exe instead to bypass the copy of moslo used by the launcher. |

Getting Sound Blaster louder (2006-04-10 09:34) |

If You like more of Sound Blaster music in this game than Roland, then You need to change dosbox.conf under Sound Blaster mixer=false. Otherwise You get speech just right, but have music extremely quiet. This mixer=false works on other NWC games from that time if the sound blaster music is too quiet.
I had v0.63 and with this alteration, game works perfect. |

Works Near-Perfect in v0.61 But Not v0.63! (2005-03-02 05:22) |

I'm not exactly sure why, but this game works a lot better in DOSBox v0.61 than it does in DOSBox v0.63! Using the Sound Blaster mode, you get MIDI music and sound effects like you would in Might & Magic IV and V. . . Yet, in v0.63, all you get is digitized sounds and voices, but no music or MIDI noises. Weird! |

Several Sound Flukes, But Otherwise Supported (2005-03-02 02:36) |

After extensive playtesting using various configurations, I can honestly say that, by default. . .it is impossible to get music to play in this game using Adlib or Sound Blaster options. Unless I am proven otherwise, I am going to say that Roland is the only way you'll ever get music to play in this game through DOSBox. Well. . .or the PC Speaker. But the PC Speaker support seems quite damaged in this game, through DOSBox, for some reason. Simply put, the sound effects very often do not know when to stop playing, leaving trailing "beeps" more often than not. This can be heard in the victory fanfare, when firing arrows, and sometimes when purchasing things from various shops. So, ignoring the sound issues, this game is perfectly playable, and probably even 100% supported. But as I said, IGNORING THE SOUND ISSUES. |

Works fine, except that that sound is very, very low |

Works fine in 0.62 (2004-10-18 19:12) |

This game works fine in 0.62
I had to choose 'Roland + Blaster' for the install of the game, otherwise I wouldn't get any sound (just voice).
And some of the sounds seem a little off, so it's not perfect, but it's good enough. |

I managed to load and save some games although there are issues with some saved game files with a zero size that sometimes prevent the load from working. I'm running DosBox 0.61 under Windows XP. |

The game runs fine but you can't load a saved game for some reason... |
