In .74 version audio does not need to be set AdLib, sounds and music plays normally. I don't know if the game jhas this great lack of sound effects and music (most menus are without any of them) but I had intro music, bar music and combat sounds, both in normal and in AdLib mode, so I suppose that's a lack of the game. |

glut is right about the mpu401 setting.
As for the music, my guess is that the game detects a soundblaster card and then decides ot to play it. You can force the sound card with the following options:
A = AdLib Board T = Tandy MT-32 R = Roland S = PC Speaker
so to make it use adlib sound you do
MW A
adlib sound worked for me and made the music play.
There are also graphic options
1 = EGA 16 Color 2 = Tandy 16 Color 3 = CGA 4 Color
the game should automagically pick EGA which is the best graphic option, but you can force that, too. The two can be mixed:
MW 1 A

Make sure that in dosbox.conf, under [midi] that mpu401=uart or mpu401=none.
If you have mpu401=intelligent then after each battle the game will hang. |

Playable in DOSBox version 0.61 (minus some music) (2006-04-02 14:31) |

It is true that this game hangs after your first mission in DOSBox versions 0.62 - 0.65 and is therefore unplayable. I have found though that it does not hang in version 0.61 and so far seems to be fully playable. The only thing is that there is some music that I heard in version 0.65 that I so far can't get to play in version 0.61. I was hoping that this game would be fixed in version 0.65. Maybe next time...but at any rate, this game can be played in 0.61. |

Game still hangs at the end of a mission. Get a contract, start the mission, and retreat or die, and the game just hangs there. |

Mechwarrior crashes after any battle. It's not really runable. |
