First of all, there are several versions of the game. You need to get the DOS / Win 9X release. Then set up 32 MB. RAM and run the game through MONTE.EXE (MSETUP.EXE for hardware options).

There are lots of video modes available... at least VGA 320x200x256 and 640x400x256 page flipped work. The rest I can't say.
