Grabbed the GOG copy of this, and it seemed to run fine, though it had some sound issues. Switching to 48000 on the PC Sound Rate fixed it for me, but your mileage may vary, based on your sound card.
I'm running on a Mac, using Dapplegray as my front-end.

I got some sound problems with phanta 2 in Dosbox (i installed the game from the French 5 CD Version who include Dos or Win95 installer), i updated Dacblast.drv(from sierra old games page)but nothing changed)
anyway except this small problems, the game run great from the beginning to the end.
the game run better in dosbox than windows 7 (with the phanta 2 installer available on sierra old games page)

Quick install instructions using the Windows CD version. First get p2dospat.exe
* mount cd as drive d
* run p2dospat.exe from c:\
* create the directory \games\phant2 (or something else)
* don't use patch.bat, but do
patch2.bat c d foo \games\phant2 \

you can play p2 under dosbox but it´s a bit difficult to install the game. under the link below , you´ll find the instructions to play the game. at the end you´ll only have to put the directory into your "dosbox-mounted hd-directory" and you´ll have to set your cpu-cure to dynamic,cycles to 17500 and frameskip to 2. I couln´t install it under dosbox cause every time I got the error that there isn´t enough space on my hd. so you´ll have to install it with the bootdisk etc. .

On the dosbox site, game section, it says the phantasmagoria 2 game is 'supported' by dosbox, but this is not true. I can't seem to get it run right. Sound is bad quality and movies are running too slow. In the dosbox forum people advise to use windows 98 through vmware or the like. So why is the game still rated as 'supported' while this is clearly not the case? |
