Finally, i found THE fix for the internal speaker sound & no sound at all. Here is :
- cycles = 3000
- add "sblast" parameter to prince.exe (whatever if you use frontend, .bat, ...) - prince.exe sblast
That's all :) |

Sound Issues (2015-08-15 23:02) |

Re-iteraing form earlier in the thread:
----------------------------------------------
Lowering CPU cycles will fix the sound issues.
----------------------------------------------
I found three levels of quality for sound, and lowering the CPU would improve the quality (though sometimes would take a few reloads of the game):
|Broke/PC Speaker|
Everything sounds like squeals, this is a PC speaker imitation. Lower your CPU cycles, Cntrl-Q and load again!
|Sound effects work, no music|
High quality sound effects, you hear the prince scream, gates shut with a foreboding clang. When you start the game, you'll hear the gate clang but then silence - the music isn't working. Lower your cpu cycles and try again, because next up is the promised land.
|Sound effects work, music works|
You'll be able to tell immediately as you start playing the game, as you hear the CLANG of the gate shutting and then an ominious little riff of music plays - you're good to go! |

If the shift key does not work, try to toggle the num lock key. |

Prince of Persia sound not match (2012-01-11 06:51) |

I am using D-Fend Reloaded 1.2.1 to run dos game much easier (http://dfendreloaded.sourceforge.net/)
Just open D-Fend and drag game file and will automatically create 1 shortcuts.
But some time we need edit setup manually to increase performance.
For this Prince of Persia I must reset all into default configuration and suddenly the sound is match with game movement, doors, traps, sword, etc. |

Prince of Persia original sound (2011-08-15 02:28) |

The first game from Jordan Mechner, called Prince of Persia, was released, I think, in 1989. The sound-track/background sound when playing this game was what I liked a lot. I played the game during 1989 - 1991 and the computers of that time were very low on memory etc. compared to today's computers.
Recently, when I tried to play the game again, I was told it would only play with dosbox. I installed dosbox, played and realized immediately, that the background sound (when picking up the sword, running, opening of the gates etc. etc.) had all changed totally playing with dosbox!
All I'm trying to find out is, how to be able to play the old game with the old, original sound.
Are there settings in dosbox that I have to tweak to get the original sound?
Hope this helps you isolate my problem.
Thanks and hope you have a suggestion for me. |

Well i dont see where the cycle- 3000 is on the Option txt. The daufault CPU value is set to auto, so i h' to set it to 3000.
Speaker settings:
pcspeaker=true
pcrate=44100
tandy=auto
tandyrate=44100
disney=true
Running Dosbox 0.74, has anyone got this problem. How do i fix this, really miss the sound, its only hald fun... |

I second Jue's comments. Just use cycles=3000 and it works fine. For me, the music didn't work with auto cycles, and it would crash after finishing level 1. Setting cycles=3000 fixed those problems. |

Works fine, but don't set cycles beyond 3000, or you will experience 'weird' behaviour (no music, erratic controls, etc...) |

I cannot get this game to work under 0.63 for xp or linux versions. The arrow keys on my 101 keyboard nor the shift keys will work in this game, but the ctrl key combinations do. Utter mystery why. |

I played through the whole game, with and without cheats, and there was no glitch, bug or any other problem (instead of my time running out.. waargh ^^). |

no music with high cycles (2004-11-20 21:39) |

The cycles should not be set too high before starting the game or you will not get the music with sbpro and sb16. In my case all worked fine with good sound and music up to 4200 cycles (tested in 0.63). |

I forgot to note that when you switch windows, the palette will fuck up completely. However when you get into a new location the game will fix that, so no true alarm there. |

The game runs perfectly except for the music which stutters terribly.
A side-note is that Windows may react during your battles with the guards because of pressing shift 5 times. Not a flaw of DosBox or Prince Of Persia, but of Windows. You can turn the feature responsible for that off. Make sure you do that. |

Every once in a while, when i switch windows or use the Start Menu the game freezes.
And sometimes the some commands (pause, save game, etc) don't work |
