How to enable sound (2015-09-29 18:24)
Jantho
You have to mount a directory to drive letter d as cdrom. So I have one dir called Silent Hunter, with 2 subdirs one called install and one called silent. The "install" dir is empty, silent contains the game. I change to dir Silent Hunter and start dosbox with dosbox . -c "MOUNT D install -t cdrom". You can also use dbgl, just add the install dir as cdrom on the mounts settings page. This trick works also with Great Naval Battles 4 and 5.

Anyone have an idea how to get all the sounds to work in DOSBOX. I only the the opening music and then silence. Other than that the games runs great.
I believe I have the three ini files setup correctly.
both the digi and mdi are:
;
;Miles Design Audio Interface Library V3.03 of 18-Jun-95
;
- Do a full installation
- in windows, copy from the SH CD the whole BUD directory.
- place that directory in the same map as silenthunter (sh.exe)
- edit in shpath.ini the bud line to:
BUD=BUD
- save, and try again.
Tell me if it works
Getting Silent Hunter to work with Dosbox on my machine (2008-01-06 18:51)
Corey
I really hope someone can help me.
I've recently downloaded Dosbox ver. .72 and I've had no luck getting Silent Hunter to work on my P4 with WinXP SP2. It seems to find the game ok but no matter what "mount" command I try for creating my CD Rom drive, I can't get past the message saying "Please insert the Silent Hunter disk into your CD Rom" which I assure you is in there. I've also edited the "shpath" file in the game where you put D as the cdrom drive letter next to the name Bud and I still get the same problem.
Is there anyone who's been able to get this game running with Dosbox that perhaps can provide me with the step-by-step instructions if that's not too big an endeavor?
It be appreciated.
