Hi
anyone has a solution for the issue below? I still cannot use the blackwidow on tie fighter
Speed Link Black Widow (2014-04-27 22:37)

Hi i just got this joystick, a Speedlink Black Widow , it has a joystick, a trottle, 8 buttons and a little lever to look around. Anyone can help make it work basically i experience the "self moving" issue. i did patch the game and changed the joystick parameter in the ini, but still, even if sometimes after the initial calibration i do not have the issue in the login room and the councourse, as soon as i start any mission the issue present itself.
PS Is there any way to make the throttle works?
Help if you can. Thanks
Working perfectly on DOSBox 0.74 (2012-03-30 23:45)

Works perfectly for me on 0.74, core set to dynamic cycles to max, timed emulation for joystick off.

There was always a bug in the joystick support in Tie Fighter, you need to download a patch, which thankfully is still available (google it).
Also, I found there was still a little bit of drift until I turned off timed intervals for the joystick.
Capturing movie (2008-03-23 10:21)
simonsaid321
It all runs well as I run through from battle 1 to battle 9.
The only problem is that capturing movie will not capture the general midi.
I have to switch back to 4-OP.

It's working all right in the menu sections, but when I enter a mission the joystick gets crazy, and I can't control any movement. Do you have any ideas why that's happening?

It's because you should probably install the game from within dosbox, just put the cd into the drive and mount your cd drive as whatever letter you want, D is a good choice using the -t cdrom switch, than mount where you want to install it as a normal drive, run the installation from within the dosbox, install, set it up and run the game, it's quite simple.
Running the game (2007-08-26 19:04)

When I attempt to run the game through dosbox it goes to the install screen. When I click to install it I get a message about how it can't install off of the harddrive. I have wiped the install and tried running it again and I get the same error. It for whatever reason does not seem to want to run...
my system is an amd athlon with 1gb ram and winxp...any help would be appreciated. thanks

Hey everyone, I mount the cdrom drive and it detects the drive however, after using the tie.exe command, it always goes to the installation screen regardless of whether I've installed it or not and keeps giving me error messages if I try to install it. Any help?
Runs in 0.70 (2007-04-25 00:18)

Running at 640x480. I get a bit of drift on the joystick between normal and hi-res modes.
Sound and joystick (2006-11-13 00:32)

I'm running a sound blaster audigy and a saitek x45 joystick, neither of them work. I'm running v.65. The game installs fine getting it to run can be a little tricky, but the main thing is the sound and the joystick. Any help would be appreciated.
Works fine (2005-10-18 09:56)

Athlon XP 2600+
768MB SD-RAM
ATI Raedon ALL IN WONDER (64MB)
Creative Soundblaster
Set up the CPU cycles up to 9500 and turned to 320x240 resolution. Works fine :)
does not work in 0.63 (2005-06-10 06:39)

i just read it should work, but after installation and soundsetup the game tries to start and then dosbox just ends, any suggestions?
Works but needs extensive tweaking (2005-06-08 22:01)

Took a couple hours of changing settings around, but it's playable just fine for me (1.8ghz Athlon). It seems that core=dynamic helps greatly.
the game is low (2004-09-02 11:10)

the game run but it's very low have you got a solution to make the game run normaly, increase CPU cycle and frameskip by example.
PS: I'm french I hope you will understand
Insert the CD... (2004-07-08 18:26)
Implode
It works - you need to tell DosBox to mount it as a CD drive, e.g. MOUNT D D:\ -t cdrom
Then the game detects the CD and runs fine. Not really playable in 640x480, too jerky even with frameskip 5 and 15K CPU cycles.
Insert the CD... (2004-06-15 13:40)
Sashanan
Even though it was mounted, when run under DOSBox the game unfortunately did not feel like seeing my CD, so I couldn't get it running. Advice welcomed.

Sound (including General MIDI), VESA (640x480), and everything else works... just way too slowly to be playable.
