Oxyd link game (V3, V3.4, V3.C) (2009-01-13 09:31) BraveToaster
Oxyd runs fine in DOSBox with all versions that I had on old floppies (V3, V3.4, and V3.C), but I did not manage to get Soundblaster sound to work. All hints that I found (use DMA 3 or Valkyrie2's comment) did not work for me. Adlib sounds horrible, PC speaker ("good sound") works nicely, but is very quiet.
I also did get the link game via DOSBox's virtual nullmodem over TCP/IP to work. However, you need to set txdelay and rxdelay to 1, otherwise the link game will run very slow, making it virtually unplayable. With these settings however, it works perfectly - even over WLAN. Also, setting the CPU cycles to a high enough value is important for the game to run smoothly, "auto" didn't work for me in this game, "max" runs great.
Oxyd (Original version) (2006-02-10 16:50) Valkyrie2
Oxyd is running perfectly. The Dongleware version (unpatched 308846 Bytes) is running under DOSBox0.63(WINXP Pro SP2) exactly as under DOS6.22 about 12 years ago. Original SB16 sound, perfectly mouse feeling. No changes, no problems. No additional tools. But it's necessary to fulfill exactly the settings as required by oxyd1.exe. I didn't care about Adlib because oxyd can be configured for SB16 with a220 irq7 dma1 t4. It's very simple to get started with dosbox.conf ending like this (for German Keyboard)
[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.
mount d c:\Programme\DOSBox-0.63\Dos
d:
Keyb Gr
#Oxyd
z:
mount c c:\Programme\DOSBox-0.63\Oxyd
c:
oxyd.bat
Dont forget to implement an autoexec.bat (SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 T4) because it's necessary for oxyd1 to have that perfectly sound.

This game seems to run just fine if you use the default executable -- something I wish I could say about the other two Oxyd games. . . Unfortunately, though. . .this game doesn't appear to have working sound so far. At least, not through anything but the AdLib setting. That sounds horrible, too. But yeah, otherwise, this game runs perfectly.
