Works on 0.74 (2015-10-04 16:03) DoMiNaToR_xD
Theme Hospital works fine on Version 0.74. Just execute "SETSOUND.EXE" in the "SOUND" directory and configure the sound itself.
Make sure to set "Creative Labs Sound Blaster Pro (New Version)" on "MIDI Music" and "Creative Labs Sound Blaster 16 or AWE32" on "Digital audio". If u have done this start the game normally and the sound will work nice and smooth.
I used the orignial Theme Hospital with the one offical patch (from Bullfrog itself, not that community one).
Runs smoothly without sound. (2013-02-08 20:07) Optimus Joe
Runs on 0.72, 0.73 and 0.74 when sound is turned off, else it gives same error:
Heap allocation failure
(reason : code 2)
refuses to run (2011-11-13 22:25) AlbertHas
I cant even get it to work.. It says "this program cannot be run in dos mode" and I've tried both v0.74 and 0.73 and it says the same thing in both. any suggestions??
works for me no slowdown on low end laptop (2011-10-21 20:25) extent
Its playing well on vista using dosbox game launcher (with dosbox 0.73), on a low end 1.5ghz dual laptop with 2gb ram. No slowdown or sound skipping when I move objects quickly. If you copy the cds content to your pc, start the game from dosbox or a launcher, running the HOSPITAL file, and have no sound, it may be because the games config hasnt been able to write any audio settings. You could try going to the SOUND folder in the games directory and click on SETSOUND to set your midi and digital audio options in windows. After that the game should be ok (it was the solution for my launcher). The slowdown seems to have been largely caused on this machine by the display scaler being on, so turn it off if your having issues. In dosbox game launcher I have the display set to 'surface' and the sound to 'sb16'.

still having speed issues (2010-06-09 04:46) crho85
Although it appears there should be no problems with the latest version. I am still having very slow playback, even with frames turned up 75000+. A 2.61 GHz duel core should be able to run this. I set core to dynamic as well. Can anybody help me
How do you download a game? (2009-06-11 23:49) Pat
How do you download a game? if you could help me out it would be appreciated, Prm101883@aol.com
0.73 no problems (2009-06-05 11:22) Napostriouf
Works perfectly on version 0.73!
Good, one problem. (2008-07-25 19:48) Frogg
As most people have had, I too have had no sound.
But this isn't a problem if you listen to music while playing it, or remember what it was like originaly.
Would NOT advise going under 1800 clock cycles, otherwise it becomes choppy.
Runs fine on a Pentium Dual-Core 1.6Ghz.(Laptop)
Sound Issues (2007-10-16 13:27) showdownhero
I have the same problems as above and I'm also wondering what sound setup I should use.
Sound broken (2005-05-01 15:55) jmax
crash after splash screen when digital audio is set.
error message is :
Heap allocation failure
(reason : code 2)

Any clue ?
works fine.. but slow (2004-09-30 08:59) tech
This game works fine.. But its annoying to play the game because its running slow (on my 3ghz..).. Sound worked with no problems after running that sound setup BAT file.
for the books (2003-11-01 18:12) millionmice
Sound support for theme hospital has always been iffy, even under DOS.
Runs with .60 (still buggy) (2003-10-31 15:53) wookieman
The game loaded and ran fine in version 0.60 but, became problematic in-game. Speed was good. Sound support seems iffy.
