XBSETUP: Hat, twist and slider mess up? (2024-10-30 00:26) Harjula69
Installed Red Baron (GOG), installed 'newest' DosBox (0.74-3), installed XB146.zip and still unable to figure it out: which 'function' calibrates which axis one?

Only X/Y-axis calibrations are 'clear':
- Rudder->'Roll'--> j-stick twist or slider
- Hat/Throttle --> j-stick hat or slider
# why 'Hat' option has only 2 'test sets'?

Would be nice if there would be same 5 'displays' available, like when calibrating game controls in Windows: X/Y/Z, 'hat' and slider. OR at least calibration 'displays' for Z, Hat and Slider; when adjusting 'correct' control, display 'reacts' to it.

Otherwise:
- j-stick (Thrustmaster Flight Stick X) works just fine.

Ronnie: I have same problem 'occasionally', push stick forward + move cursor by arrows (Yes/No), in game: Alt+C (calibrate joystick).
Needs to calibrate in all: Windows game controls, XBSETUP and Red Baron :)
Red Baron (2022-07-28 12:51) Ronnie
I am using Red Baron through Steam on Windows 10 & when I start up the game when I get to the screen for Save to Mission to Tape I hear the cursor tick, tick repeatedly in the background. I hit escape & go back to the main menu & the cursor is rolling down the screen from one item to the next.
How can I fix this ?
DOSBox 0.74 -- Runs without any problems (2017-05-08 19:33) Juliano
I am using the default DOSBox.conf, with only the following changes:

[sdl]
fullscreen=true
fullresolution=640x480
output=ddraw

[render]
aspect=true
scaler=none

[cpu]
cycles=fixed 5500

[dos]
ems=false

The joystick stops working at cycles higher than 5500 (in my system, at least).

Runs fine, but note that the joystick routines in this old game are problematic from the get-go and that stick calibration can be ineffective in the game itself (using ctrl-c within the sim).

This can be solved by downloading XB146.ZIP which fixes joystick issues as well as adding "modern" (circa 1991) joystick support.

Still have some sound effect problems when we set it to sound blaster.
just fine in 0.72 (2007-09-07 12:12) floundericiousWA
I just started playing red baron under 0.72. Other than needing to monkey with the game's sound selection, the game play is fine! :-)

works god in ver .70
Runs perfectly under DosBox 0.63 (2005-01-14 15:13) Scharmers
Although old, this classic sim is still worth playing. Runs great at a nice speed.
